The Guessing Game Winner!
I have a winner to announce!  Thank you for taking a crack at my Garden Flower Guessing Game, you guys!  The random winner, who coincidentally got the most answers correct is...

Kelli!  Check your email!

I know you guys want to know the answers, so here they are!

I think the trickiest one was sage, though peas was definitely a good guess!  I'm thinking we should play an animal version of this game later this summer!
Do You Recognize These Flowers? (You could win!)

Do you fancy gardening? Lately our garden has been very inspiring to me.  I've started a nature journal (more on that later), and all the pretty plants in my yard are just begging to be drawn, painted or photographed.

I thought we could play a game with some of my photos!  These are all flowers of foods or herbs found in my garden.  See how many you can get correct!  Post your answer in the comments below, and I'll share the answers in a week or so. I'll randomly pick a winner from all the entries, and I'll send the winner something from my shop!  (You don't have to get them all correct to win.)

Good luck!

P.S. Make sure your email is available through your blogger account--if it isn't, or you're not sure, leave your email with your comment. Thanks!

An Update on our Front Yard Garden
My husband loves to garden, and I love to eat what he grows.  I help a little too, but really he does most of the work.  We have some raised beds in our back yard, but over the last five years, our giant maple tree has grown and shaded that area.  Since we bought our house, we've constantly been landscaping.  And since our front yard is mostly full sun, it's ideal for vegetable gardening.  Actually, I've posted a little bit about our front yard gardening here.

So here's a peek at what our front yard will look like this year.  I can't wait until the peak of summer, when all the plants--flowers and food--are bursting with colors and yummy stuff to eat!

Brandon was on the roof cleaning out our gutters and snapped some pics of the front yard from above.

Turns out our mailman is a little confused right now about where to walk, since our mailbox is on our house. Sorry Mr. Mailman. We'll get it all sorted out soon.
Fall Garden
We've dedicated much of our lawn space to landscaping and gardening, especially in our front yard where we get the most amount of sunlight.  Pretty soon, I don't even think we'll have much grass left to mow.  This is definitely not the norm here.  None of our neighbors have mini hoop houses, tomato plants and patches of kale growing in their front yards.  But we don't care.

We've had a few frosty mornings, but next week we'll have our first hard freeze.  It won't stop us from growing more food, though.  In our garden right now, we still have lots of kale (which is delicious after a frosty morning!), turnips, beets, swiss chard, thyme, sage,  arugula and cabbage. We even have some flowers still blooming.

Do you garden? Do you grow food year-round?
